Nassella tenuissima (Silky Thread Grass) brings gossimer grace to any spot where it’s planted. It blooms from late spring into late summer with plumes of silky flowers that sway back and forth in the slightest breeze. Grow readily in most any soil with full to partial sun. Re-seeds itself readily. Not for sale in CA. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).

18″ tall x 12″ wide (seed propagated). Nassella tenuissima (Silky Thread Grass) is our most graceful native bunch grass. It gently sways in the breeze and its silky seed heads glow brightly when they catch the sunlight. Plant Nassella in any well-drained soil. It is an excellent xeric companion plant and is particularly nice when planted with Agave, Agastache and gray Artemisia. Re-seeds itself readily. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. (Note, botanists have changed this plant’s genus from Stipa to Nassella.) Not for sale in CA.
