14-16″ tall x 15-18″ wide. A summer blooming native wildflower, ‘Mountain Red’ has clear red trumpet-shaped flowers that color the garden for months. This selection is the most cold hardy form of Stachys coccineus with the original seed collected from an elevation of 7,000 ft. in eastern AZ. Flowering for many months, it’s an outstanding plant for attracting hummingbirds! Plant it in dappled or partial shade and in compost enriched garden loam. Also known as Scarlet Hedgenettle, Scarlet Hedge Nettle, Texas Betony, Red Betony, Hummingbird Betony and Scarlet Sage. An excellent companion plant for Aquilegia or Campanula.
