Leucanthemum superbum ‘Becky’ (Shasta Daisy) showers the garden with classic flowers from mid-summer to early fall. Cheerful 3-4-inch flowers of white petals around a golden-yellow center flutter on sturdy stems. Lovely as cut flowers they are easy-care, long-blooming additions to a border, container, or cutting garden. Deer and rabbit resistant too.
Description
‘Becky’ Shasta Daisy is an improvement on the classic Shasta daisy with wider petals and larger flowers on sturdier stems that don’t need staking. Perennial Plant of the Year in 2003, butterflies love ‘Becky’! Glossy green foliage grows to about one foot tall and the flowers rise above on stems 2-3 feet tall. Long-lasting cut flowers, they make lovely additions to a mixed flower setting. Easy-to-grow, they prefer a full sun location or light shade in hotter areas. Plant them in average soil that has good drainage. Keep moist to establish, thereafter ‘Becky’ is a water-thrifty plant that will brighten the garden for many years. Deadhead spent flowers to promote new blooms. A good choice for a large area where low maintenance, hardy flowers are desired, they will naturalize in a wild setting. Divide clumps for more plantings every 2-3 years. (36-48″ tall x 24-36″ wide)
